High School

The Dubuque Soccer Club (DSC) will be offering a high school program beginning this summer!  It is our goal to continue to provide a quality environment, the highest level of coaching, and positive experience for all youth and high school aged soccer players in Dubuque and the surrounding areas.

The cost for the DSC High School Program is $200 – Our DSC High School Teams will be playing games on a regular basis in the IPSL League (recognized as the premier soccer league in Eastern Iowa) throughout the Fall!!

Being a former high school player in Dubuque myself and now a collegiate head coach, I realize the importance of practicing and playing games not only with your high school teammates, but with those from all Dubuque area high schools.  The ability to create a group of committed, focused, and passionate soccer players will help all of our high schools become even more successful during the high school season!

I am extremely excited to announce that the following coaches will be the lead coaches for our high school boys and girls programs:

High School Girls – Josh Printz (Head Women’s Soccer Coach – Clarke University / Former Division 1 Assistant Coach)

High School Boys – Steve Moore (Head Men’s Soccer Coach – Clarke University / Former Division 1 Assistant Coach / All-American Collegiate Soccer Player)

THE CALENDAR:

o   OPEN HOUSE DATES – June 21st and June 23rd, 2016.

-          Why the open house?  We believe players and families should be able to experience the DSC environment, interact with our coaches, and be aware of the development and abilities of other interested players prior to registering and committing to play.  As well, I along with the coaches want to ensure we are able to provide the absolute best environment for our players possible.  Should we be unable to provide a developmentally appropriate environment, we don’t want our players and families to incur the financial burden.

o   SUMMER – Our summer practices/trainings will begin the first week of July.  Our DSC High School Teams will train 2x per week in order to prepare for the upcoming IPSL Season.  During this time we will look to arrange and schedule scrimmages/friendless with appropriate competition.  Practice schedules will be flexible to help avoid conflict with other activities!

o   FALL – Our teams will continue to practice/train 2x per week throughout the fall season (August – late October/early November) along with IPSL games.  The majority of IPSL Games will be played on Sunday to help alleviate conflicts from other activities.

-          IPSL (Iowa Premier Soccer League) – The DSC understands and values the importance of playing games and competition.  The IPSL provides the opportunity for our teams to develop in a competitive game environment.  The IPSL is recognized as the premier soccer league in Eastern Iowa.  Many top high school players participate in the IPSL with various clubs which enables our players to experience high quality soccer throughout the fall.  The Fall IPSL season consists of 8 games that typically take place over 4 single weekend days (two games in one day).  Our teams will have the benefit of playing at home as well as traveling (no further than 1.5 hours) to play games.  Much like high school teams travel to play games, we want our players to experience game preparation, new environments, varied team styles and tactics, which will no doubt correlate to what is experienced at the high school level.

o   WINTER – We realize high school aged players are involved in a number of activities.  We will be providing an option to train throughout the winter months (January – mid March).  There will be an additional $100 registration cost for winter training.  When combining the summer, fall, and winters costs, we are less than other programs being offered.

o   Why are there not tournaments/showcases scheduled?  We believe it to be prudent to understand where our players are at from an age, development, and future aspirations standpoint prior to committing to these events.  Showcase tournaments require a substantial amount of financial, time, and travel commitment and we do not want this to be an unnecessary burden if it is not appropriate to attend.  Should the players, parents, and coaches believe it to be beneficial to attend such events, all efforts will be made to do so.
